We are happy to introduce you a new article about distinctive and charming district of Barcelona with the short name Gràcia. Gracia is situated between the districts of Eixample, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Horta-Guinardó.
This district hasthe smallest area(4.19 square kilometers), but is densely populated(about124thousand inhabitants). Gràcia district includes: Vallcarca i els Penitents, El Coll, La Salut, Vila de Gràcia, Camp d’en Grassot i Gràcia Nova.
More than a hundred years ago here was a town with the same name, which was annexed to Barcelona in 1897. Gràcia is known for its cultural traditions, its own unique charm, bohemian atmosphere of creativity andnon-conformism. Historically, the area was a center of Barcelona‘s subcultures.
There are many small and cozy squares in Gràcia, where you can often see different concerts and find original‘alternative’s tores. Area Plaça del Sol is a popular place where citizens meet in the evenings. It is also a pleasure to visit to the square Plaça de Rius i Tauletand see its famous clock tower.

But the main sight of the area, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world, isa fantastic Parc Güell, one of the latest Gaudi creations, which has the plot area more than17hectares. It seems that you are entering a fairy tale with magical houses,unusual bench in the form of a sea serpent, and where you meet the famous mosaic lizard.
In the district of Gràcia you will get acquainted with the masterpieces of architectural modernism.The most famous building is Casa Fuster — a 5-star hotel which looks like a castle.Casa Viçens is the famous Gaudi creation. It is a private house; the Spanish-Arabic architectural elements were usedin the construction of the house.
Talking about shopping in Gràcia we can say that the local shops are for fastidious buyer who appreciates original, elegant and vintage style.
